Fact: Bagels with Butter

Normally I prefer my bagels with cream cheese…

…but last week I bought low-fat cream cheese because, well, do I really need to explain why (I’m looking at YOU, spare tire), but when I smeared it on my toasted bagel and took a bite I realised it tasted so horrible that eating my bagel plain would’ve been a better choice, so I scraped all the low-fat cream cheese off but I couldn’t rest at that, so then I slathered it with salted butter and I gotta say…

…it’s growing on me.

What’s your quick-and-easy breakfast staple?

There are certain things that just don’t work low-fat or fat-free. Ranch Dressing, Mayo, Cream Cheese… It’s just not worth buying.
I like butter on my bagel too. Or just jam.

  2. Here’s a yummy one that I sometimes eat. Peanut Butter Toast with Pineapple slices. The Pineapple takes away the stickiness of the peanut butter and the peanut butter takes away the sweetness of the pineapple.

  3. Cinnamon and sugar on buttered toast. It’s like a dessert. I love it. But usually you can find me eating cereal and putting on my makeup in the car while David is driving.

  4. Peanut butter and pineapple? I’d prefer not to try.
For breakfast today I grabbed the box of Honey Nut Cheerios and snacked on the commute. If I actually wake up on time I can get a real breakfast in, but that happens never times.

Toasted bagel and butter is delicious.

  5. I LOVE me a good bagel. I also love Kraft fat free cream cheese. I am not sure you would like it but I think it is wonderful. I have had some other ‘light’ varieties I didn’t like too. Or if you like peanut butter that is really good on bagels.

peanut butter toast. i’m pretty sure i eat it at least 3 times a week and my kids eat it almost everyday with a piece of fruit. who has time to cook in the morning? not me. i am in no way an early riser.

Lately it’s been smoothies. It’s my one healthy meal of the day. It helps me feel a little less guilty about having pizza and burgers for dinner all the time. Sometimes I like to kid myself ;)

But gosh, I want a bagel! With cream cheese. The full fat kind, plz.

    Bagel Sandwich:
Whole wheat bagel, Kirkland Egg Substitute, Kraft 2% Cheese or pepperjack cheese, lettuce or spinach, bacon if I’m feeling like it and ignoring fat content (and we happen to have bacon).

I make this probably three to four times a week. Yummy. Cereal other days.

  9. DeAnna says:

Nutella on a whole wheat bagel, that or muffins from costco that I keep in the freezer, keeps my kids from eating them all before I can get one.

    Beer. kidding. real answer, clamato.

Shortly after moving here (Northern Ireland) last year, I discovered “crumpets”. They are like small pancakes, but less sweet, with little holes in them. Toast the crumpet, put butter and honey or jam on it and enjoy! Really good! Oh, and I am addicted to something typically Dutch, called “hagelslag”: chocolate sprinkles. Great on toast with butter. When my friends come to visit me here, they all have to bring me a pack. I cannot live without it and I eat it EVERY DAY for breakfast. I also love fresh eggs in the morning. My boyfriend loves breakfast so much he sometimes says before going to sleep: Tomorrow morning breakfast! Yay! :)

Have you ever tried neufchatel cheese? Philly makes it, and I actually like it better than regular cream cheese.
