Heads Up and a Weigh-in

Saturday Steals will commence tomorrow p.m.

Also, I’m taking a poll. I know not very many of you participate in Saturday Steals, which fact I have long since made peace with and continued on the SS tradition because of the few stalwarts (all of whom I love dearly)…but how many of you, by a raise of hands, appreciate the feature, even if you don’t participate in it? Would you be sad if I did away with it? Or would you shout for joy and faint from relief? It really doesn’t matter to me—I won’t get my feelings hurt if you say to give it the axe.

The reason I ask is not to fish for compliments—it’s just that the Linky List guy is gonna start charging for his previously-free service, and I need to decide 1) if it’s worth it to pay for Linky Lists, and 2) if it’s not worth it, then whether I should even keep going at all, and 3) if I should keep going, but not pay for it, I need to come up with a solution.

None of these are your problems, however; all I need from you is to know whether or not you like the feature and/or would be sad to see it end.

You can even answer anonymously if you’re worried your two cents will hurt my feelings and I’ll hold them against you (which they wouldn’t and I won’t but I can see why you would think otherwise).

This is your captain speaking.

Roger: over and out.

I like Saturday Steals, sometimes don’t have enough time in the weekend to get a post done though. But if it’s going to cost you, then I would seriously consider if it brings in the readers any more than a normal post would.

  2. Ros Holden says:

I like them! But then I’m biased! xx

  3. anna says:

I am indifferent on the matter. I read them, but I wouldn’t be sad if they didn’t exist. If it were me? I’d save the money. I’m cheap like that. :)

  4. Rachel says:

I like them! [I have some HOT steals for this week], but having said that I don’t always have time to look at all the links from other people.
Would it work if people just linked in the comments? I don’t like to think of it costing money

  5. Chloe says:

I like them!! Maybe we could post our links in the comment section?

  6. Maureen says:

I like them, but Mr. Linky List sounds greedy. I don’t think you should have to pay for it. I agree with the idea of posting links in the comments.

  7. TeamHaynes says:

Have you seen that youtube video with Pearl the landlord and Will Ferrell? I don’t think he’s funny but that video is.
That’s what I thought of when Mr. Linky wanted to start charging you. I say NO! Don’t pay money. I really like Saturday steals. I thought it was a lot of fun and I like reading other bloggers steals. Maybe you can go back to once a month? It seems there were more responses.
Do what you want though. This is your blog. I like the other suggestions of links in comments, seems easy enough and no money spent.

  8. Liz says:

I enjoy reading yours, although I don’t usually get around to reading the linked ones. (Google Reader is already overloaded!!) If it were me, I’d find another way to keep them going… whether it be comments or another service. I wouldn’t pay for that linky thing.

  9. joleen verenski says:

I love your saturday steals! I love to see the cheap things people can get! Maybe one day i will be lucky enough to find something for cheap! I agree with the other comments I wouldn’t pay for the linky thing!

  10. kk says:

i don’t action on the steals but i love reading them. Keep it going!

  11. Shesten says:

Of course, I love them. Use this linky instead: blenza.com They’re free :o) There’s a premium service too, but the basics, which is all you would need, are free. Plus, they don’t screw up as badly as the McLinkys do.

i think that is so ironic that Saturday Steals is actually ripping you off! i had no idea it cost money and was causing trouble.
i would hate to see it go, because i always love your creativity and outreach to the community. i know i have only participated twice, but i think its a great idea.
if its more trouble than your enjoyment of the event, i say can it. but if YOU love it, than keep goin’ darling.
you have my love and support always.
