It’s Not Too Cute, But Just You Wait…

This is my new website.  I will never post on my old blog again. Archives of Our Lives™ is now powered by WordPress™; no more of this Blogger™ stuff.

Change is good sometimes, and today is one of those times.

Welcome to my new world.

  1. Kristy says:

why did u decide to change? what’s different with wordpress and blogspot?

  2. I cant figure out how to put this site on my following list, and am sad that I might not be able to read your posts with as much ease… (as my daughter would say,”OH NO!” can you help me?

  3. Alicia says:

Hey Camille! Congrats on having a self-hosted web page! Wow, you seem, like, too good for me now. (But not really.) Well, I’ll check back soon! (And, per your request, all my links have now been changed.)

  4. Ditto with Kristy: What is the difference between wordpress and blogspot?

  5. jeff says:

    YAAY! CHANGE!

  6. jeff says:

From what i can see, feeds are simpler, less work than blogsnot. Camille’s gone into syndication.

  7. firstanon says:

    YAAY! FEEDS!
(check the links on this new site, relevant info links within.like in RSS2.0 link.)

  8. Kimberly says:

Oooh la la! It’s bittersweet, I’ll miss the old blogspot site :-( But this is pretty snazzy too if I must say! Congrats on the new site!

  9. linda rae says:

I don’t like the little words! Have pity on the geriatrics.

  10. Loralee says:

You did it! That’s a big step, so congratulations!

I started out on Blogger but I prefer WordPress. (Well, the self-hosted version of WordPress. If I was still free hosted, I would probably still go with Blogger simply because you have more freedom to tinker. Although, with ME that is probably not the best idea sometimes. Heh.)

Plugin’s are still a bitch to navigate but over all WordPress is the bomb.

Now, you just need how to learn to use a tracker and I can show you how to BAN IP ADDRESSES OF TROLLS AND ANONYMOUS PEOPLE WHO ARE MEAN.

Or, if you want, you can just prevent those around you who never seem to like what you write yet still continue to read your blog from accessing your site. We can redirect them to Disneyland’s homepage so they will at least get a nice vacation out of it. Say the word and it’s done, yo. ;)

  11. Kristy says:

i like what Loralee said about blocking random IP addresses, I need to do that to mine to one person. WordPress doesn’t seem as nice? kinda seems like u’r downgrading, but i just think that from the layout not from what is offered with wordpress cause i haven’t looked at that at all. Did you have to copy everything manually over from old posts? or were u able to copy it all over automatically?

  12. Camille says:

Kristy– WordPress gives the ability to change every tiny thing about my blog. The only problem with that is…IT’S REALLY HARD TO DO! Well, it’s only hard if you don’t know HTML, which I don’t. Kyle is my IT guy, because he’s been wanting to try it out, but he won’t be able to dedicate time to my blog until this weekend. So yes, it seems like a downgrade right now with this cheesy layout, but in a few weeks it will be up and running, and look better than the blogspot blog. Just bear with me until then!!

Loralee– Thank you so much! You’ve always been so sweet and willing to help any way you can, even when you’re beyond busy. I appreciate it. By the way…all this HTML stuff is wretched. In Blogger, I was ticked I only had five fonts to choose from. Now that I can pick any font I want, I’m ticked I have to do it manually in the code. Headache.

Linda Rae– I’m not a fan either. I’ll work on it.

Kimberly– You’re nice. Thanks! I hope to snazz this one up and make it much better than before. It’s off to a shaky start, but I didn’t want to be with blogspot even one more day, so I had to make the switch.

firstanon– What? RSS? I’ll have to take that up with Kyle. I hate technology.

Jeff– YAY! I’m not sure what a feed is, and really, this self-hosted business is kind of complicated. What I DO like is right up there, in the address bar… my very own website with no .blogspot or .wordpress attached. That’s the main deciding factor that drove me to this.

Emily Merkley– The difference is that with WordPress I can be archiveslives.com. Plain and simple. All about me. Me me me.

Alicia– Thanks for changing your link! No way am I too good for anyone, except maybe that one guy I dated once…just kidding. Bad joke.

Molly Shumway Rawlins– Bad news: I went to all that trouble to beg people to follow my blog (which you’d done from the start), just to switch to a new blog that’s not associated with Blogspot. Which means I don’t think there’s a way you can add me to that list. Which is wretched. I’m sorry. If you are a smart one and can figure out google reader, you could switch all your websites over to that. I never could figure it out, though. Which is why I liked the “Follow” feature on blogger. I’m sorry about the wretchedness.

Kristy– See above comment to you.

  13. Holly Decker says:

first of all… *sigh*… i cant believe it! this IS officially the biggest day of my life… i MADE IT TO THE SIGHTS OFTEN VISITED!!!!!!!!! ME?! me!! little me. who knew i would make it this far?! now i can die happy!! oh this is so unexpectedly wonderful! well, i would like to thank… well, who am i kidding… instead of thanks i will just commit to trying to keep up my blog so that i can maintain my spot.

second of all… you never cease to amaze me… its like- i go to your page thinking… “how is this chick gunna rope me in THIS time?”… and bam. i am roped.

congrats on the new blog. i am changing my link RIGHT NOW!

  14. Jami says:

Camille, I usally am so lazy, but I totally changed the link on my blog! I am so excited to see what you do!

  15. Camille says:

Holly– Wow. I had no idea the extent… Thanks for being so honoured. I’m honoured that you’re honoured. There’s enough honour kicking around this joint to start up another branch of the military. Thanks!

Jami– I know, changing links is really annoying. Blogger made it impossible for the traffic to be automatically redirected. Thanks for doing it!

  16. Whitney says:

wow, looks good. I will change my link right now.

  17. HeatherPride says:

Camille! You are a woman now! *sniff* All grown up and everything….I would love to make a move too but I woudn’t have the slightest clue how. Maybe that can be a future post of yours?

  18. Andrea says:

I like the new website Ü. I look forward to reading you more often on this cool website.

  19. RatalieNose says:

Camille, HOW COULD YOU???? I feel betrayed.

  20. Allison says:

    I’ll follow you anywhere chickadee….

  21. Millie says:

    Millie,

I am not happy about this. Not one bit. What the heck??? Why do you make such changes? You know I can only handle so much, and this might send me over the edge. Why, oh why, did you have to do this? Please make this a more inviting atmosphere; the white background was even better than this one. This grey makes me sad and depressed. Make it look nice, if you must go and change everything.

  22. Millie says:

And I don’t like that I can’t click on the little anonymous circle. I bonded with that round dot, and I feel lonesome without it.

  23. anonymous says:

ya. I miss the little anon bubble. can u bring it back? and change the background? sorry i sound like a whiner. i don’t really understand the difference but this is cool. congrats to you!

  24. Camille says:

    Whitney– Thanks, you’re kind.

HeatherPride– Trust me, you don’t want to be taking tech advice from me. I do think you should self-host, though. If you are even a LITTLE smart in computers, it would make you happy. So far, for me, it’s been wretched…until I look at the top of my address bar and see archiveslives.com. That makes everything okay again.

Andrea– Thanks! I look forward to you reading me on this new website!

RatalieNose– How could YOU???? I feel betrayed, too!!!!!!! I thought you would always be a fan, no matter what!!!!!! Humph!

Allison– Thank you. A loyal friend, indeed.

Millie– I thought I was Millie… You, sister? I thought surely I would get support from YOU, of all people! Fair-weathered, the whole lot of you.

    Millie– Still fair-weathered.

Anonymous– No I can’t and I know the background sucks. I’m trying. I just don’t understand HTML, that’s all. And Poor Kyle is not available to fix it right this minute.

  25. RatalieNose says:

Camille!!!! I never said I was NOT A FAN!!!! I simply said that I felt betrayed and slightly (but not so slightly) annoyed that I had to change my routine!!!! HOWEVER, I WILL ALWAYS remain a faithful fan and reader, “true blue through and through” and all that. I admire and respect you enough to read your wrtings no matter WHERe they are on the internet! So for you and you only! I will try to adjust to this new enviroment AND I even changed the link on my favorites list YESTERDAY!! RIGHT AFTER you told me to!!!!! How’s that for being a fan????

  26. Gosh, I didnt even notice it, but I made it to the visited blogs list too! sweet action!!!
