Happy Labour Day, everyone.

I don’t labour anyway, since the government of Canada deems it illegal for me to do so.  So today is just another day for me, except Poor Kyle is home, which is always good.

We will now proceed to spend the next 24 hours arguing whether or not we should get a dog.  He says yes.  I say no.

Happy Labour Day.

  2. Katie says:

That’s funny because Chris and I are spending our Labor Day arguing over who has to change diapers. I guess we all work for a reason…

  3. Kelly says:

We had that argument at the beginning of the summer…that was our 4th of July.

    I don’t blame you.
    I hate dogs.

  5. A dog! Is he crazy? You might as well have a permanant 2 year old. The only difference is you can crate a dog when you go out. That doesn’t work for a kid, I’ve tried it.
Seriously, dogs are great but puppies are a full time job. Good luck, whatever you decide.

BE STRONG!!! Don’t give in. Just think of having that mutt inside the house for 8 out of 12 months. Yuck. Oh, and getting a dog is just one step closer to having a kid. Plus, when you come down here, who are you going to get to watch it? Nope. Too much hassle.

I have 3 and let me tell you they are more work than my kids. Unlike kids they are cute as puppies and ugly when they grow up. You always need a sitter for them when you go out of town and kids come with you or can get old enough to watch themselves. Don’t do it…

If you haven’t decided for sure when to tackle the baby thing, you could look at a dog as good practice. There’s a very good reason why I have cats. They’re low maintnence. Dogs, not so much.

yeah camille…get a cat! hahah. These are my thoughts on dogs.
    1. I think that kids and dogs go together. I LOVE watching finn and grace interact. Grace loves him, and he loves her. Also. I have had a couple of my friends (who have kids Graces age) complain about their kids getting bored? Grace is never bored…she has Finn to play with. So I love our dog for that reason.
    2. We got a puppy while I was prego with Grace. It was wonderful. We loved going on walks, and I loved spoiling the dog. Then Grace was born…we gave the dog away. It is WAY too hard to train a puppy, and have a newborn/baby. IF you are going to get a dog (which I am pretty sure you will), now would be the time to get it. You either need to get it now, have it for a couple of years before you have a baby. OR get it 2 years after you have a kid.
3.Big dogs are MUCH better with kids, and they are 10 times better than little dogs.
    4. That being said. Big dogs make big poop, hair, and lots of other big things. Finn is great with Grace, and everyone that he meets….but our backyard smells like butt if Spencer doesn’t clean the poop up 2 times a day. Also, I have to sweep two times a day to keep the hair under control. THAT bugs me.
    4. I love running/walking with Finn. Also, he plays in the backyard with Grace, and follows her everywhere. I feel a little more protected when he is with her. That might now be a problem in Mayberry…but mesa is a different story!
My advice would be to get the dog now. Get some kind of cold weather, large breed dog. Newfoundlands are SUPER laid back. Seriously, they lay around all day. They love the snow, and they are one of the best family breed dogs around. Or you could get a newfie lab mix. That is what finn is.
I think that if you have a dog there, it wouldn’t shed much. Dogs shed a lot in AZ b/c it is so freaking hot!
OK, this is long. Good luck!

Dogs pee everywhere all the time. Dont’t get a PITT BULL. Little nice doggie only.

  11. Chloe says:

Hahaha! Jimmy and I are arguing whether have a dog or not when we’ll move to our new house… I was the one who wanted to have a dog… But now I’ve changed my mind. We are living on a budget… and dog maintenance is expensive. At least for us. So no dog for now…

Today feels like the beginning of my vacation now that I have the fam, the kids (all except for Claire) AND the hubs out of the house. Ahhhhh….

  13. Jethro says:

just cave. my nephew want’s a dog.
we like dogs. we care for them because we love them.

  14. Jethro says:

let him pick the dog. love knows no bounds.

  15. Molly says:

Lol. I think you should cave and have the dog, then when people ask you when you are having a kid, you can say, Oh, we have a dog, we dont need one.

  16. Oh Molly! that’s so funny, I’m rolling on the floor laughing. Yessss….that’s the perfect answer!
