Saturday Steals: Oakley Ski Coat

Welcome to another round of Saturday Steals! We’re shooting for seven or more entries this week (we set our sights high), so don’t be shy!

My Saturday Steal this week  is actually a month old, but I use it all the time, so it’s current in my mind. (Did I not say that you could use steals you got ages ago and still love? No? I guess that’s ’cause I just made it up. This whole thing is new to me; I’m making it up as I go along. Sorry for any inconvenience or annoyance this might be causing you. But, yeah. Feel free to use senior citizen steals…the ageds are people, too.)

It’s this coat from the Oakley Outlet store at the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe, Arizona (a.k.a. my home away from home {not Oakley, but Arizona Mills [this was my first foray into the Oakley store, ever]}):

The original price tag on the coat said $150.00, and even at that, it would have been worth it.

This puppy has a Thinsulate™ inner liner around the hood, sleeves, and pockets (all those places where slippery nylon liner would feel extra cold in sub-freezing temperature):

And extended microfibre wrist cuffs for when your sleeves don’t *quite* meet your mittens:

And pockets galore for chapstick and iPhones™ and scribbled To Do lists and a spare dollar (if you have one [which I rarely do]):

And even one (that I will likely never use) for a lift ticket (it is a ski jacket, after all):

Of course, I don’t use this coat for any of that active stuff. Just for keeping my poor upper body from freezing on my long winter walks up here. But if I ever do get active in—What’s that called? Oh yeah, exercise—I will have just the sporty winter coat to see me through.

But really, the part I like best is the inner lining:

Because nothing says “I dress for myself” like a cute inner lining that nobody will ever see.”

So, like I said, this jacket would probably have been worth $150 (though I would have struggled to spend that much just because that is equivalent to 1.5 pairs of jeans or 300 DDPs), but I got it for …

…$60.

I can’t do the math, but I know that’s more than a 50% discount.

Now, I know I’ve gotten better steals, and I know I probably could have found a coat for cheaper, but this one has a magnet that holds the hood in place, and not every coat can say that for itself.

Only I’m a dumb-dumb and didn’t get a picture of that, but it looks just like this. Image from here.

If this is the last winter coat I ever buy (and it will be), it will be sixty bucks well-spent.

And what about you? Ready to share your steals?

Begin!

  1. I have an Oakley ski coat that I got back in my snowboard days. Then I realized that I cried every time I went snowboarding, so it;s been in a box ever since. But I loved it too!

Sorry, just saw that my link didn’t work. I know private blogs are annoying. Sorry! I am trying to delete it. If you have a way, go ahead and delete it to save people from trying to click it. Glad you liked my Saturday Steal, though! :)

Today was GRANMA GREAT’S birthday. We got a free meal at Joe’s BBQ (for Granma Great—Eric and I paid for the FRIDAY SPECIAL which included 3/4 pound of meat and 2 sides with bread for $8.99. Although we both got one we could have easily shared just one as we both brought 1/2 our meal home (that equals a whole meal.) (Now we know for next time>>>>>)
Anyway, we heard that they were giving away free meals at Chick-fil-A—-if you wore your pajamas. So—even though we were stuffed from Joe’s we stopped at Chick-fil-A and got a sandwich, fries, and a LARGE drink, all for free. The total cost for 3 people for 3 meals (Joe’s tonight, luch tomorrow, and Chick-fil-A for dinner tomorrow was $21.00. That was a good deal. I won’t even tell you what JAck In the Box gave Granma Great for her birthday, because honestly, that is the icing on the top of the proverbial cake. Sound like a good steal, I mean DEAL??????????????

P.S>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I don’t know how to use this McKinely business so I will just write me post as I did above. Technology is too much for me to learn at this late stage of my existence in mortality. I think it was meant for my after life in another dimension.

I’m ten kinds of jealous about that jacket. The mitteny liner is fantastic.

  5. Is it just me or should the people that choose to participate have websites that you don’t have to be “invited” to view? That kind of cracks me up.

This week has been CRAZY or I would join in. I got this awesome piece of luggage that swivels in a circle & has giraffe print for $40! It is beautiful, now if I just had somewhere to travel that would lead me to an airport where I could anxiously await it’s obvious arrival amongst all the other BLACK pieces of luggage…

  7. Jordan says:

I want to help you feel less lame and post a link about a a great deal/steal, but I have nothing! I try not to shop or anything bc that means I’m spending money (even if I am getting a steal). So I’m sorry. But I do enjoy reading yours.

  8. Maureen says:

I really like that coat. I’m glad you put up a more expensive “steal” because I’m thinking of posting something I bought for around $60, maybe in the next week or so depending on when I get it.

Also, I’m disappointed the first link to the anthropologie dress is private because it’s the one I really wanted to see. Maybe I’ll google it.

  9. Omg, what a great jacket!

Also, Camille, I’ve been excited ALL WEEK to participate in Saturday Steals, and for some reason the McLinky isn’t letting me upload my link! But here it is:

  11. Rachel says:

I have been trying to think of something for a Saturday Steal but I’ve been trying not to buy things recently. I’ll find something amazing to share while on holiday next week!

I enjoy reading the others though so please keep doing it!
